INTEGRATE JIRA WITH MICROSOFT TEAMS
Here’s a tutorial on how to link a Microsoft Teams to Jira Projects and to send notifications to users in Teams when a task is assigned in Jira using Power Automate
POWER AUTOMATE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
- As a prerequisite for connecting to Jira from Power Automate, you will have to generate a Jira API token.
- Logon to Power Automate and create an automated flow.
- Give a meaningful name for the flow and in the Choose your flows’ trigger box Search for Jira and from the list that shows up choose the When a new issue is created action.
Fill in the below details for Jira connection
Connection name: Provide a valid name for the Jira connection.
Jira instance — URL of your Jira instance that you want to integrate with Teams.
Username or Email — Provide your Jira instance admin email address.
API Token — Provide API token generated from Jira.
- After the settings for Jira connection is completed, Select the Jira project for which you want to send Teams Notification on task assignment.
- Add the (+) action, search the Microsoft Teams connector and choose the Get @ mention token for a User.
- Add the Dynamic content and choose the Issue Creator Email in getting @ mention token for a User
- Click the Action (+) to a add a new action, Search the Teams Connector, and choose the Post Adaptive card as the Flow bot to a user action.
Below details has to be provided for the action
Recipient — Add the email address of the user to whom the notification should be sent in Teams.
Message — Add the Adaptive card Json Payload for the message body. Adaptive card can be created from https://adaptivecards.io/
Summary — Message Summary.
Is Alert — If set to true user will receive the alert for teams notification for this message.
- After the flow creation steps are complete click on the Save icon to save the flow
- Navigate to the JIRA instance and create a new task in the project
- The user to whom the task is assigned will receive a notification in Teams with the task details.
